This afternoon, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) scheduled a press conference in New York to update the public on the initial observation of the deadly Metro-North train derailment yesterday in the Spuyten Duyvil section of the Bronx. The press conference was scheduled for approximately 4pm.
The first to cover and carry the press conference was WABC, which already had Eyewitness News First at Four on the air.
The first station to break away from regular programming was WPIX, which interrupted Maury Povich. Anchoring for WPIX was Scott Stanford and Tamsen Fadal.
Next was WNBC, which broke into the Ellen DeGeneres Show. Anchoring for WNBC was Shiba Russell and Tom Llamas.
Next was WCBS, which aired a breaking news break in anchored by Kristine Johnson and Maurice DuBois. WCBS broke into Judge Judy.
Finally, WNYW interrupted the Dr. Oz Show with a break in anchored by Ernie Anastos.
The press conference lasted about 15 minutes. WABC was the first to cut away from the press conference at 4:22pm, and immediately went to a commercial break. WNYW followed suit two minutes later at 4:24, returning viewers to Dr. Oz. WPIX was next, ending at 4:27, and WNBC and WCBS both ended shortly thereafter
